Just a quick note to explain why I’ve pulled the newsletter sign up forms from the site. I’ve been hit with some kind of weird bot attack where I’m getting an endless stream of obviously fake sign-ups to the newsletter.

These appear to be email addresses from domains that exist for real companies, but it is highly unlikely that twenty different people all working in various departments for a ship-building company, a medical supply company, a high-tech company, or a steel manufacturer (to name just a few) would suddenly all want to subscribe to my author newsletter.

What’s even worse is that they then take the email address from the subscription confirmation email and then stick MY email address into THEIR spam/phishing newsletter. So, not only do I have an endless list of fake emails in my author newsletter tool, I also have an endless pile of spam in my author email inbox.

SIGH.

It’s been a royal pain trying to keep an eye on all these fake subscriptions and keep on top of deleting them as they rack up, so I just decided it would be easier to get rid of the sign up forms until I can figure out a way to keep these things from happening.

Until I have time to figure that out, I have, in the meantime, added an RSS feed button the site footer and you can keep up with book news and any other newsworthy events that way. If you do a quick Internet search for RSS feed readers, there are a number of free ones that you can use. You can use them to keep track of all your favourite authors in one place, for example, and it just updates automatically whenever something new gets published to any of their blogs. It may be old-school, but it does work.
